About the Poem

Love is often thought of as an illusion. Many do not even believe it exists. I disagree. But I do think it is, sadly, a rarity and that many make the mistake of assuming it does not exist based on past bad experiences. I wrote this when I was 17, and I think this poem was my way of dealing with pain and the understanding that I had to look a bit harder to find what I was looking for.

this is a very nice poem, the fact that i could actually feel the emotion and sadness in it makes it a very good poem. keep up the good work!

i think that this poem just shows so much truth and honesty about love for a teen because it puts it in a way for someone to have hope in love but not be obsessed!

I Love This pome.

Unreal

So many times has love been seen
By these fragile pea-green eyes
And yet not once have I since known
Of a love that stayed the night

The wispy smiles of a teenage face
Will hide a desperate venture
Allowing for a false repose
And hiding human nature

With saddened eyes and a vacant smile
I'll bid my heart farewell
And feel my carcass crumble
Under blind unwanted spell

I would hate to close my eyes to this
To something so uncertain
For pain allows a healing wind
And remembrance draws no curtains
