Always

Do we realize the price
we would both have to pay
If our love became revealed
in the light of day?

My heart longs to be with you
it longs to be set free
To be released from the responsibilities I have
to be together . . . you and me.

Yet who we are dictates
it says what we must do
I know I must release you
to find someone new.

Please know I will always love you
it will be your memory that caresses my face
You are so much a part of me
you will never be erased.

So go in peace, my love
occasionally whisper my name
Always know I will come straight to you
should my circumstances ever change.

This speaks to Me. I must set My Lover free. She and I are one, but it is not right for either of us. We are both married and we must protect that. This is the hardest thing that I have ever done. Life's responsibility has envaded our world, making us choose. We must choose to be apart. I am so hollow. I want. I hurt. Thank you for these words.

I have recently reconnected with my first true love. I'm married, but my heart really belongs to another. Your poem hit home, because I'm going through that right now. I can't leave one for the other.I love them both, but in so very different ways! If circumstances ever change..

this poem really hit the heart. since i went through the same with someone that i could not be with since we had circumstances out of our control. but if we could control our circumstances than we would be together.
