About the Poem

Where do I start? I broke up with my girlfriend, whom I once loved very much. To make it worse, we broke up the day before Valentine's Day. I wrote this poem that Valentine's Day. It is the expression of my sorrow from having to end the relationship on that unfortunate day. I had to end it because it hurt me when I couldn't return her 'I love you's.' She never admitted it, but I know it hurt her too. She did not want it to end, and neither did I. But it had to.

Hey, I enjoyed your poem and I have a lot to relate to this. I know how it feels to have your heart ripped out of your chest and everything. I just wanted to say your words can express more than expressions. Keep up the good Work. Amber

Valentine's Dead

So this is the end.
I fell out of love,
Out of your embrace,
Into the arms of sorrow.

So this is Valentine's Day,
Happy Valentine's my dear.
I'm sorry it had to be this way,
That I'm the cause of your tears.

I know your sadness,
And I must confess,
That I once felt love and happiness,
But all I feel now is emptiness.

So I am alone
On this day of love,
Without a love to call my own,
Without a heart in my chest.
