About the Poem

In this journey we call life, there are times when we are isolated because of circumstance. Be it self-imposed or otherwise. This poem describes enjoying the beauty around us but not being able to feel it within us.

I feel the same. My husband passed away a year and a half ago. Life has lost it's meaning for me we were married for 48 years. I know I should be grateful to be alive and enjoy the beauty around me but it has lost it's meaning.

And Yet I Die

I see the stars sparkling so bright,
Within the moon kissed sky.
I hear the lark so sweetly sing,
Amidst the morning dawn.
I smell the flower full in bloom,
And see their royal pomp.

And yet some place so deep within,
I'm shrouded and I'm closed.
The brilliance there I can't see,
In mists of misery.
Enshrined inside, unable thus,
To touch the warmth without.

I gaze upon this passion spent,

And yet . . . Inside I die.

i loved your poem and i think that it relates to a tme in everybodys life when they feel lie they have no friends and they feel like nobody likes them. I went through this time when i was about 10 and i would ask people to be my friend and they would say no but i would ask and ask and pretty soon they would just start to hate me so I feel your pain.

I truelly like this poem. it is deep and full of sorrow. Everybody has there own perspective of the meaning of this poem including me. I feel that the author is tryng to say that her life might seem wonderful on the outside and everything is full of life but it always isnt how it seems. Inside she feels destroyed and powerless. she feels dead and emotionless. This poem is very meaningful. I'm only 13 years old and really am touched. It has inspired me to write my own poem called "Within Fear"

I almost started crying while reading this. You can still feel the warm breeze and gaze at the roses with dew, but inside, your heart is slowly dying. This poem was so touching, and I loved how you were able to express the way you felt. Always remember that there's someone out there who will never let you down, and is always smiling for you. God bless you.

couldn't have put it more acurately. It sums up the beauty around quickly, then hides it away to be seen but not reached. Something i feel a lot these days.
