About the Poem

This poem is about the thoughts that run through a mind when seeing the one you love with someone else.

I Saw You

I saw you last night
With a girl
In your car.

Did you see me?
I wonder
Did you see?

She was beautiful -
Long, straight blonde hair
Thin, beautiful.

As I stared into your car,
Your eyes fixed on her,
I prayed.

I prayed
God would make a switch -
Replace her with me.

Did you see me?
I wonder,
Did you see?

I knew, though,
That God
Would not answer that prayer.

I was not alone.
I wished I was;
I wished he would go away.

Did you see me?
I wonder
Did you see?

As the light turned green
I took another look;
I laughed uneasily.

I wished again
For God to make a switch;
To replace her with me.

Did you see me?
I wonder
Did you see?

I wished you would look at me
The way you looked at her;
I wished you still loved me.

I wished you would touch me
The way you touched her;
I wished you still loved me.

Did you see me?
I wonder
Did you see?

I know now -
I guess I've always known;
It's over.

I'll never feel your love;
I'll never feel your touch;
I'll never hold you in my arms
The way I want to so much.

So, again I wonder
As I sit here all alone,

Did you see me?
I wonder
Did you see?

Jodie, This was a reeally touching poem. You express hurt in it. That he was with her and not you. Well if he was stupid enough to give you up then he is not worth your love or tears. I hope you find the strength to be able to move on. The only person worth crying for won't make you cry. -Brianna
