What is a love poem? How do we define it? Does it necessarily center on romantic love? On romance, on marriage, on commitment, on those ever evasive happily-ever-afters every human being continuously seeks? Or is a love poem something else entirely? Nobody really understands love. Not the scientists, and certainly not the poets. Love defies understanding because it is never the same for any of us. It seems to be Universal. It seems to be Timeless. But, those are just illusions because even though love is something we all experience, it's also something we all experience differently. Love is an individual experience, filtered by our own lives and expectations. No one really understands love because it's a very different thing for each of us. These love poems, like all love poems, are seemingly Universal. Seemingly Timeless. And yet very much a different thing for each of us. There is almost certainly one here written just for you and that someone you love. We hope you enjoy the search for it as much as the eventual discovery of finding it.

| Forty years of love and marriage gives a person a certain perspective on love and life. It also, it would seem, makes priorities a little clearer. | |
| Lessons In The Garden | Mike Van Rensselaer |
| This is a delightful poem about life, friendship, love, and beauty. And perhaps of what we can learn from the world in which we live. | |
| A Simple Hug | Amanda Jenkins |
| Sometimes the greatest expression of love, and the greatest declaration of love, is nothing more than a hug. | |
