The Angel |
| by Mark Acciard |
I worked and loved and lived my life right
I prayed to the Lord, every day and night
To send me an Angel, to honor and love
And to me he did send her, from heaven above
She was beautiful, glorious, I was smitten from the start
Intelligent, witty, with a glance she melted my heart
I knew right then I had found my true love
Her kiss, sent my heart soaring on the wings of a dove
Defenses breached, Walls tumbled down
Gazing deep into her eyes, knowing I would drown
Her love, I wore like a badge of honor
though her actions made me sit back and ponder
The wonder of a love so strong
Whispering into her ear all night long
If only I could put into words, just how I feel
Then perhaps this breach in my heart would seal
I could love unconditionally, not worry if returned
Accepting what comes, never fearing being burned
Boundless passion I have stored in this heart of mine
Taken for granted, or neglected, time after time
