About the Poem

This poem expresses the experiences of my own and of my family and friends. It points out the balance that every one can expect in life.

Roses and Thorns

The things that life consist of
includes both roses and thorns.

Some claims to have more briars
from the very day they were born.

There are those who enjoy roses,
whose life blossoms day after day.

They have not yet reached the thorns
that mark their path along the way.

For most, there are some good and bad
which can be expected by everyone.

So be thankful for the smallest rose
and place less emphasis on the thorns
