About the Poem

This describes those times in your life when things come to a stand still and you feel like your going no where. I thought of this poem while sitting at a red light late one night and I saw how it compares to certain periods of one's life.

Late Night Red Light

There's no one around, no one to care.
Yet still, I sit and stare, in apprehension, fear, and excitement
at the luminous red orb above.

Ahead lies darkness.
The left and right are less ominous but quite possibly as dangerous.
The well lit, cliffside roads of yesterday and yesteryear are all that
occupy my rearview mirror.
There's no one around, no one to care.
Yet still, movement is something I dare not dare.

This poem is really good, and i do agree with Tim. Yet i do believe that though his past maybe be something he would be better of forgeting, i think the cliffside roads that he has surpassed represent the fact that he has made it this far and overcome those obstacles that life can be taken at any point.

This poem truly speaks of the internal struggle we all face. Do I hold on to the past, or let it go to embrace the unkown and uncharted road ahead.
