About the Poem

I wrote this poem many years ago as a child. So when you read this you must look at it through a child's eyes. I was a child, seeing things as simple - trying to understand why adults in society have such a hard time getting along with others, and understanding life in general.

A Simple Need

A simple need,
A simple deed,
The woefulness of it all.

A cast of good.
A cast of bad,
The blindfulness of it all.

Must we see not,
Or do not,
Want all or want none?

Shall I believe in you,
Or distrust you;
Shall freedom become all?

Shall the white man become colorblind?
Shall the black man not hate?
Will we all forget the promise,
Or will we all believe in Him?

As a Christian I believe that God is way to often forgotten in all that we do. The best poems to write are ones that glorify Him, He appreciates them more than any poem could ever be appreciated.
