About the Poem

This is a poem about a love put on hold due to the "newness" of someone else.

New Toy

the ignorance of a lone boy
confused by his emotions
pressure building
what to choose
he looks towards the new toy
caught in the moment
blinded by it
he turns away from his old one
merely tosses it aside
without a second thought
forgetting how long it had been with him
the memories
the reliable toy that one day
it will be remembered
after the new toy is broke or returned
after interest is lost
he will return
and it will be here
waiting to be picked up
and used again.
