About the Poem

This is a poem of what really hurts

Words

Words don't hurt.
The person saying them does.
Just seeing where it is coming from
is like taking a sword
and stabbing it into me chest.

Then when I realize
the feelings that go along with the words.
I picture you
turning the sword inside my chest.

Then with every drop of blood dripping out,
I have to remind myself that
they are only words.
