My grandmother, Martha Jessie Legge, passed away in 1997 at the age of 97 years. I deeply love and miss her. Not a day goes by that I do not think about her. I wrote this poem for Nan Legge.
You look so peaceful lying there
With your hands folded upon your chest.
You look like you are sleeping
But you are at eternal rest.
So Long For Now.
Not a hair out of place,
Your make-up nicely done,
A beautiful smile upon your lips -
For now you are with Absalom.
When someone special passes on
It does not mean they are gone,
Though they are no longer with us
Their memory still lives on.
It hurts so much to lose a friend -
Especially one that is trustworthy and kind.
Nan Legge, you were that special friend,
A rare and special find.
Nan Legge, you will always be with me
In spirit and in mind.
You will always have a special place in my heart
Forever until the end of time.
Nan Legge, I will not say "Good-bye".
This is not the end.
So I will just say, "So long..."
Until we meet again.

When I read this, it made me think about my best friend who I loved very deeply. She left us early this month. She was very sick anyway and was so tired of being sick. I didn't want to let her go but the only way I have made it is to say SO LONG FOR NOW. I will see her again. This poem really helped me thru a VERY hard time in my life losing my best friend. So thank you for helping me with healing. Thru your poem I was able to heal knowing I'll see her again

I LOSSED MY GRANDMOTHER TOO AND THIS POEMS SAYS ALL THE THINGS I WISH I COULD HAVE SAID TO HER BEFORE WE SAID GOOD-BYE FOREVER BUT NOW THIS POEM MAKES ME THINK OF HOW EVERY TIME WE ENTERED HER ROOM SHE WOULD HAVE A SMILE ON HER FACE AND WHEN WE LEFT IF YOU ASKED HER FOR A SMILE SHE WOULD GIVE YOU ONE RIGHT UP UNTIL GOOD-BYE FOREVER. FROM KIM. PS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

I LOST MY GRANDMA THREE DAYS AGO AND I AM SO HEART BROKEN. I CANNOT PUT INTO WORDS WHAT SHE MEANS TO ME. SHE WAS NOT JUST MY GRANDMA SHE WAS MY FRIEND! I AM GOING TO SPEAK AT HER FUNERAL TOMORROW AND YOUR POEM HAS HELPED ME DECIDE WHAT I WANT TO SAY. YOUR POEM SAYS EVERYTHING I FEEL. SHE WILL LIVE ON FOREVER IN MY HEART AND I WILL BE WITH HER AGAIN.

I think that this poem was very sweet. It touched my heart because I lost my grandma a year ago, and I truly miss her. What I like about this poem is the title "So Long For Now". I like that because it lets you know that you will not be away from your loved ones for a long time, you're just giving them a chance to be with God before you come. Eventually we will meet again. I just want to compliment you on a great job.

I just lost my grandmother and the pain is unbearable, she was a very special lady, she was soft and gentle to everyone that she met. When I read this poem, it is exactly what i am going through and I await for the day to be re-united with both of my grandomthers.

today my grandma died of liver cancer. shes been planning her funeral for some time and she requested that i write a poem and read it at her funeral. im ususally very good at writing poems but this was the hardest thing i ever had to do. i have written many poems but this is the best one i have come across. i hope to use this poem at her funeral but i am a little disappointeed in myself that i couldnt write my own. thank you for giving me the help i needed and im sorry to hear you lost your grandmother as well.

Up to the age of 6 I lived with my Nan, so we became very close. She recently passed away from a slow and painful death which traumatised my family and I, but the words of your poem really helped me to capture all the emotions together, the anger, sad, confused emotions that stay with me. It was so beautiful in fact that I am having it put onto her headstone, changing the name obviously. Thank You
