About the Poem

This poem is about the beauty of forgiveness the Lord gives us. It portrays how one might feel standing in His presence with our sin.

I Was Lifted Up On Angel's Wings

I was lifted up on Angels' wings,
And through the Heavens soared.
When I came upon a brilliant light,
I found it was my Lord.

With hair like snow and eyes of fire,
I bowed before His feet.
In His presence it was hard to stand,
My sins felt like concrete.

Head hung in sorrow, tears filled my eyes.
My mouth, it couldn't speak.
My sins were overpowering me.
My soul, it just felt weak.

A gentle hand reached out to touch me,
A voice like thunder spoke.
The love He gave enveloped my soul,
My heart no longer broke.

He put His loving arms around me,
Such peace that I felt then.
I was quite content in knowing that,
He'd do it all again.

Our righteous acts are like filthy rags,
The Lord reminded me.
Come in unto Me my precious child,
For I can set you free.

I was lifted up on Angel's wings,
And through the Heavens soared.
I had been forgiven my sin and...
My soul had been restored.

I think that this poem was excellent. So did my sister. Before we even read it, the title inspired us, and we sang it to the best of our ability. I am only twelve years old, but I know that God loves me so much, He would do anything in His power for me.

Thanks for this poem! If you haven't been at the point when you could go no further, if you have never HAD TO just give up all hope of making it alone. without being sure even that God Almighty would have mercy, but just sitting or going on about not even resisting sin or trying to 'win', then get ready to wait for the real shock & awe, the marvel that the true Savior is SOOO able to deliver it's brings such victory & grace that you could never have believed that much was possible! Keep writing!
