About the Poem

Mount Shasta is to me, probably the most beautiful place I have ever seen. As a child, I remember staring in awe at this mountain for hours. In death, I wish my ashes to be spread over the volcanic crater atop this magnificent creation, that the pains and heartache of life might be erased in infinite splendor.

Mount Shasta

Few things in this life could be so-
Beautiful as Shasta painted in snow.
As every freshly fallen flake- Glistens,
A diamond in daybreak.

Majestic trees donning angelic white-
Reach for heaven almost taking flight.
As gentle winds upon my face-
Bless me with Winter's wondrous grace.

Across the lake my spirit dwells-
Glimpsing perfection, aspiration swells.
Dreams soar boldly over the mountain crest.
Alas, in death, it's here I'll rest.

For few things could ever touch this-
Pure mesmerizing state of bliss.
Except maybe the suns' sweet loom-
Over Shasta Daisies in Spring bloom.
