About the Poem

This poem is about being scared to change yourself, even when you think you are ready to start over. I've known from experience that this is hard to do, and it takes time for people to see the real you . . .

Walking

I walk
in the shadows of others,
blinded by smiles and grades.
I walk
by myself,
scared to bask in the
sun,
to be noticed,
to be cared for,
scared to have the path
I've walked down so many times
before
altered.
