About the Poem

Usually one wishes that a break up doesn't have to be. This is a poem that still gives hope that all is not lost forever.

Separate Ways

The time has come to say good-bye.
I only hope that you understand
We are different now than before.
Our feelings are not the same anymore.

I need to be free and go my own way.
Maybe we can work it out someday.
I will not forget you and you will always be special.

The times with you were real.
I've hurt you and I know how you feel.
This part may not be forever,
Maybe just long enough to get myself together.
I'll keep in touch through the days....
While we are on our separate ways.

This poem is very sharp, it brought back all too familiar pain of what i was told by my girlfriend who i am still and will always be in love with. But it is very true, i guess sometimes you try to do so much to keep something together but in the end the best thing you can do is give your loved one the time and space they need! Nicely written!

I really liked this poem. Letting the person that you love get their life striaght first is the best thing that you can do for them. Just maybe one day they will come back to you. I pray mine does.

This poem is very honest and straight to the point. It really helped me understand exactly what my ex-boyfriend was feeling.
