About the Poem

This poem describes the love/hate paradox I have going with my ex-girlfriend. She was, in more than once sense, my essence and my poison. If there ever existed something so perfectly tailored to fit everything I ever needed, she was it.

But as fate has it and is illustrated in the poem, it wasn't to be.

Hi this poem just says it all for me. The poet has felt the kind of love I feel for my ex. But in my case we keep going back and forth. Thanks, keep more coming

When i read your poem i felt as if you wrote it for me. i recently got dumped and it hurt the way she just ignored me, as if i was completlely worthless. as it turned out, she did have someone on the side, which made even worse for me to get over her. This is a great poem, you speak for a lot of us out there. its comforting to know that there's people out there who understand how i feel.

Alone

Purity once had a name,
And beauty once had a face.
Life once had a meaning,
And once I was safe.
Once there was freedom,
And once I could laugh.
Happiness once was alive,
And once I had another half.
Once I shared her love,
Once I was by her side,
Once I felt I fitted,
So quickly that died.
Her grace so great,
Her beauty so vast,
All I ever wanted,
Was for it to last.
Fate maybe had another plan,
Or maybe she had another love,
But it all fell apart,
The hand too big for the glove.
Now it's all died away,
Happiness, joy, love; all memories.
Now I walk alone in this dark, dark world,
With no light to guide my way.

This poem is very true. At the time of a lost you do feel as if you are alone. That you have lost the only person in the world that could hold you up and actually understand your feelings. I actually just lost my grandfather and great grandfather with in a month apart of each other and they were people that really back me up in things that I would choose to do. Even if it was a small act of backing me up such as a kiss, hug or even just a pat on the back. Now they are gone and I just don't know what I am going to do. they really were a face of grace. I really think that this poem should be a ten.

Your poem really touched me. i once had a love that passed away and i never thought that i would ever love again. but then i found my husben. and i saw that life can go on for me. but my love for johnny never died. what hurt the most was that i may never know if he loved me as much as i loved him. some people tell me that he must not have loved me very much because if he did love love the way that i have always thoghut that he did then he would have never left the world that way that he did. he killed himself. why he left me i will never know. but i have come to find out that things happen for a reason. just remember that life goes on and things do happen for a reason! GREAT POEM. I will be looking 4 more off your work.
ricky
true expression of word difficult to find at a difficult time. thank you.
