About the Poem

This poem explores the feelings that surrounded me late one night, when the 'projector in my mind' was playing reels and reels of someone that I love. The twist, as real as the feel, the reality is not the Picasso painting I have created in my mind, but a space filled with questions unanswered, running to, to run away - and the harsh truth that I have to open my eyes. But it is oh so nice, with my lover, in my mind.

The reason for the Act number is that I have written other poems regarding what goes on in my mind.

Still My Mind - Act 1

Still it rushes through me,
in every pore,
through every cell.
What is this . . .
what feeling is this?
I cannot tell,
what secrets unveil
capabilities
unknown to limits.
This absolute emmersion
blankets my every
conscious thought.
Drawing you closer,
bringing you here.
So close to me I dare not say -
still not within my sight.
I feel your breath,
heat penetrating my skin
like a hard summer rain.
I feel your face, your eyes,
trace your mouth
with my fingers.
You give me breath
so close to your mouth,
still we do not touch.
Smoldering fantasies
ignite burning,
lust and longing.
Desire tempts me.
"Move closer . . . " she whispers,
"closer, closer. "
A paradox? Closer to you,
like the finest lace -
our bodies occupy exactly
the same space.
Deeper you come!
Taking you in -
surrounding me and filling
me up- and down- push, shove
CRASH!
Eyes open, must I see?
Truth is now . . . this reality.

In my heart's silence, you fill the empty space with thoughts of love and caring. Thank you for your generosity.

I feel touched by the this poem because it's just how I place my love for my husband, who is going to be doing five years in prison. During his time, I also am doing his time with him, only, I am doing five years raising my 5 year old daughter and our 5 month old baby daughter on my own. However, We are still one in mind and soul, so, I am going to send him a copy of your poem. Thank You. Sincerely, Joni
