My Best Friend

I'm not sure when it happened
But I'm very glad it did
You came into my life when
I really needed a friend

The more I get to know you
The more I know myself
And this is why I'm thankful
For you are just yourself

You and I are different
And in many ways the same
Your good ear, compassionate heart
Will always find you fame

I promise to always be here
Forever and to the end
You are the true definition of
My Very Best Friend!

My name is Wanda, and I am a CNA. I was refered by my Mother-in-law, to sit with an elderly lady. I had never thought of doin' this, 'cause I worked at a Nursing Home and before that at a Factory. But, I called her and set up an appointment to meet with her. I met her and just loved her from the start! So, I took the job. I go to her house 5 days per week. I cook her breakfast, clean house, do laundry, run errands, give her meds and a shot daily. (All in 2 hours per day) Also, 'cause I live in the same town as she does, I go by Sat. and Sun. to make sure she has her meds and shot. I now work at the local hospital, but I still go by every morning to take care of my Sweet 'Lil' Lady on a daily basis. I just love her and feel like she is family. And I know that she feels the same 'bout me. When I get there of the morning, she greets me when, (breakfast is done and can smell the coffee) with a, "Good Morning, Baby"!(Which I'm in my 40's!) I feel blessed that she is in my life and had made her a special craft project, so, I was lookin' for a poem to go along with. When I came across this, I just about cried, 'cause it touched me so! So, I'm commendin' U Sheri for an outstanding poem which very much touched my heart! Thank-you, Wanda from Tennessee!
