About the Poem

This poem is for those of you who realize the importance of telling your dearest friends how much they truly mean to you. I wrote this after a friend and I had a deep discussion about what love is, and since I felt strongly in my convictions, and feeling my spoken words to him were somewhat ineffective, I wrote him this poem.

This poem is really nice, its how a friendhip should be. Friendship without LOVE is like a flower not being watered. How can it bloom to its fullest beauty if the most important thing in life is forgotten. ? "LOVE. " Wendy, your are blessed with such wonderful talent in writing. "You are Blessed. !" ^_^

Love Is

Every "I love you" is a promise.
A promise to stand by you,
Whatever the odds,
Whatever the outcome,
Whatever the cost.

Every "I love you" is a pact.
A sworn oath to stick by each other,
To be there for each other, no matter what
Personal sacrifice is necessary, and no matter what
Consequences may befall.

Every "I love you" has nothing to do
With touches,
Or kisses,
Or sweet nothings whispered in an attentive ear.

"I love you" is more than all these things.
It means loyalty
And honor
And trust
Without the expectation of the same in return.

So, my friend, knowing this,
Know also that I love you.

Wendy, I was really touched by your poem. You have captured the meaning of true love. The same kind of love I tried to make others understand, the kind of love that lasts forever. The kind of love that truly means I love you.
