About the Poem

A mother's heart is her child.

A Mother's Child

A mother's child is every breath that she takes,
walking hand in hand, they are every step that she makes.

And as their steps will grow to strides,
still a child, in mother's eyes.

Every ache and pain they shall feel,
mother will share and with love she will kneel.

She will pray to God to take care of her child,
to protect and guide them through every mile.

Her child is the very core of her soul,
from baby in arms to an adult they will grow.

For to a mother, her child will stay,
the precious infant she held that day.

I love this poem everthing here is true. Every night I pray for just my child and with my prayers I am very careful with prayers to say them just right so nothing ever happens to my child. My little boy is my world and every time he cryes or gets scared I feel what he feels. There is nothing better than a mothers love for her child

I am sitting here with tears rolling down my face. Both of my son's 27yrs and 21yrs old are in Iraq and I tried so hard to find these very words of Love to express to them when they where deployed and both said: "Mom, Don't Cry and Don't Worry, We Are Men Now". Yes, they are young men in the USMC but to me they are this poem. God Bless the Poet and the USMC. A Proud United States Marine Corps Mom

I thought this hit the spot. I'm attempting a memory album for my Mom this Mother's Day, (it's her 75th birthday too!), and I'm trying to come up with a short poem for her album. These few words say so much. I hope my attempt will have similar impact. Thanks for sharing your talent with novices.

I can't tell you how happy I am to find this poem. I need something to give my 20 year old son, who thinks I should have never had him. We are going through the "tough love" stage right now, and I can't tell you how difficult it is. I just need to make sure he knows how much he really means to me.
