About the Poem

It's difficult to find the words to describe what we, as a country, are feeling right now. The anger, the sadness, the confusion, and the fear are so jumbled up. We must comfort one another and find the strength and courage to go on.

We MUST let our voices be heard!

One Voice

I've tried to find the words today
to tell what's in my heart,
a way to vent… a way to share
but how is one to start?

How do we write the horror
of the thousands who were lost?
How do we pen the terror felt
as lives became the cost?

How do we say "Good will prevail -
we shall not be defeated."
How do we shout with confidence
"Such acts won't be repeated!"

How do we quell the anger
reaching far beyond the brink?
How do we spill the endless tears
that flow in crimson ink?

How do we rise up full of pride
in silent rage no longer?
Together, my friends… we must be heard
one voice… united… stronger!

I just wanted to say that this poem truly does touch the heart, especially mine and anyone else that shares my birth date. It is "9-11" and I know that this day will never be the same for me for the rest of my life. My love goes out to all the friends and families of the dear loved ones lost on this tragic day. May the angels of their loved ones lost and God watch over them and our nation always stand as one on this day especially in memory of all those who died that day. May God always bless the author of this poem for the emotional "STRENGTH" that is felt in reading this poem. My life was changed "FOREVER" on this day so poems like this have a VERY SPECIAL HEARTFELT MEANING to me. I am one American who will. """NEVER FORGET"""
