About the Poem

Have you ever heard the phrase, "Wherever you go, there you are"? Well, this poem encompasses a slightly altered view, adding to that meaning, and arriving at, "Wherever I go, there *you* are". I think we all have "ghosts" of the past

Desolate Recollections

The pillow is cold,
my eyes filled with dew;
Alone with regrets
of me and of you.

The chair, the desk,
the picture that's framed
Leave me no relief;
They scream out your name.

The razor you left,
the shirt you forgot,
I cling close to me,
reminiscing the lot.

All the while, you've been here,
a ghost of my mind,
A phantom of love,
I can't leave behind.

The days shall pass,
the nights long and cold,
My mind in distress
of passions untold.

Away with your dreams,
soar straight to blue skies;
Ne'er shall you fall,
yet our love slowly dies.

Beautiful poem. you are very talented. I hope you go on to achieve so much more with your poetry and touch the hearts of the world like you have mine.
I liked your poem.
I thought your poem was extremely realistic. I could feel the pain and this poem hit REALLY close to home. It put my feelings into the words I never seemed to find. It was an amazing piece of poetry. keep up the good work.
That is so touching. All this love loss poetry is getting me depressed. lol. because I'm so afraid to lose my boyfriend. and one day, it may be, we may not be together. in love.
It was a beautiful poem
