About the Poem

After I wrote this poem, I wanted to analyze what was meaning behind the sentiment, what was it about, and what led me to write it. I'm not sure if this is the head with which every poet thinks with after writing a piece. But I know it was important to me to do this. I thought about it and came to this simple conclusion. Sometimes we miss or should I say are denied of that one thing (being) our heart desires most above everything else, just because we are not wearing the right kind of "clothes." This poem, I suppose, is my way of coming to terms with my disappointment.

Mannequin

I know nothing about style, how disappointing this must be for you, when you're all glamour,

And so I'm short, eh?
Short an Armani evening gown, Versace accessories, and Donna Karan casual wear,

You're dying to dress me aren't you?
Go ahead, obviously I'm not moving or going anywhere,

2 cents too short always, but under your expertise, that all-knowing,
Absolute Fashion Sense, I can be anything. . .dressed in success, something complete. . .

to suit thee,
you fit me quite nicely, that is what you think? Oh God, anything but tweed, please!

So now that you've "suited" me, what do you think about the Cut?
Did I make it, or am I still rough-edged marble?

Oh, I don't know may be I should be the judge of that
