About the Poem

This was written after spending time with a young girl diagnosed with psychiatric problems.

Apathy

She Paints inside her soul
Visions we cannot see
Swallowed up whole
In a world we cannot know
She dreams,
Madness she alone knows
She paints
A not so pretty picture.

A child
a sacrifice to some unknown God
atonement for sins
She never commited
She wars
Inside
a child
who should
Of been allowed
to wear childhood

her eyes Stare
So young to be so far away
I reach out
Try and touch your fear
Madness dances across her soul
She paints
A not so pretty Picture.

Many poems on this site have allowed me to look at my own past experiences and understnad them just a little more. This poem allowed me to see why I reacted the way I did when I was younger.

I love this poem, I can relate to the girl, an escape from apathy painted on an evanescent canvas.

What can I say? You truly have a gift. And if I know what you're on about - my heart goes out to you! Keep it all, you'll be a household name someday!

When ever I witness, read or hear about something like this. It makes me angry to know how helpless a person is in this world, for people who have suffered I wish I could help ease their pain and suffering, take it upon myself for a time and give them time to be happy

I knew a girl who grew up too fast. She blamed me for everything and this i allowed, for it was the only way i could doctor her tears. Your words are truth.
