About the Poem

I wrote this poem for my younger sister, when she was really sick three months ago. I never gave it to her. She died February 26th 1999 at the age of 36. I only hope she knew how much I loved her.

The Love Of A Sister

If love could change the way things are
you would live forever and go so far
You'd know that I am always there
That I'll always love you, I'll always care

But love can't change the way things are
Or stop your pain or mend your scars
I hope that love can let you know
Not to give up or ever let go

Even when you're not in sight
You're in my thoughts day and night
Love is what will keep you there
And make me thankful for all we share

I think the poem is lovely. My sister just passed away 2 and half weeks ago, she was very sick and I still can't believe that she has gone. I am her older sister and I am so upset about her death. What you put into the poem is exactly what I feel too. Thanks for that cause it made cry.

My sister, Robin, passed away this September (2004), at the age of 45, from breast cancer. This poem touched my heart because it shared the same thoughts I had for my sister. This poem now will sit along with of a picture of Robin. I thank you much.
