About the Poem

As a student, sometimes transportation to school can be a problem. In the morning, when the sun is on the verge of rising, I feel at home, and safe. During practices for extra-curricular activities, I find myself walking home late at night. As a female teenager, this is never safe. In the poem below I describe my feelings.

Walk In The Night

In the hours of the morning
The long walks feel right
Though it is sometimes scary
In the dark of the night

For who knows what could be out there
Coming in the dark
And if it is very dangerous
I may need to hide in the park

And what may be in the park?
It could be dark, dangerous, and cold
I guess you can't ever be safe
Or so I have been told

This is a poem I can relate to. A walk during daylight feels completely safe but when there is little light left it can become terrifying because it is a very real possibility that someone could be waiting out there. - I just want to say this was a well written poem and to keep up the good work.
