About the Poem

Sometimes you need to tell the person who walked out of your life how you feel. On Valentine's Day, I wrote this in an attempt to do just that...

Once

Once upon a fairytale,
Or maybe, just upon a dream,
I held onto something special,
Something called you and me.
But as fairytales are likely to end,
Or maybe, as dreams are likely to die,
There was nothing left to hold onto,
Nothing left of you and I.

Once upon a faded picture,
Or maybe, just a faded rose,
A faded love is still remembered,
Something only you and I know.
But as memories linger with the picture
And fragrance with the rose,
I’ll remember what we had,
Even if you don't want to know.

Your poem made me cry. It's something that I've recently faced. a very hard break up made ten times worse because it happened on Christmas Day. It was amazing while it lasted and not a day goes by where I don't think about him and how much he meant to me. I still miss him. He has my heart.
