About the Poem

This is about a man that I am in love with, a man who was hurt very badly by another woman. He will not let me love him outside of his bed. He clings to a friend of his who does not love him for more than a friend. Maybe he's safe there, because if she never loves him she can never hurt him.

Your Best Friend

She is your best friend
She needs you there for her
You are such a good friend to her
That you disregard me for her

I'm setting you free
Leaving you alone in your bed
You need to invite her in
Taste her - see if you need her

To me, she is such a hateful thing
To you, she is your best friend
I cannot compete with the time
Or the bond that you both share

No matter how much a friend she is
You need more
You need to enter her and make her yours
Maybe then you can think of her while she's near

I'm leaving a piece of me with you
Because when she hurts you
You're going to need a new friend
And maybe then you'll let me in

I really like your poem . I know what u feel right know im going through the same thing and i just had a argument with my boy. because of his best friend like u say it seems heis better with her happier but shes 19 1/2 and heis 18 but she dosent see him as a best frien she sees him as something alse and i know that because shes been likeing him seens he was 12 i been with him for 4 years but we cant find happines pepole and things dont let us . so laidies pray to god for the right mean and take cear much love ---@

Yeah,from what I've heard,this is what my "tight bond" was lost too. Another "taboo" person for him as well that lives in his house. His brother's gf as well. I don't understand him for the life of me. They think people don't see what they are becoming but does he realize what he lost with me?yes,this poem says it well.
