About the Poem

True love can span time and distance and even death. It's that once in a lifetime type of thing that leaves you breathless and aching, wishing it were you being loved so deeply and faithfully. And when we finally, someday, find that true love; it completes us and makes all else pale in comparison.

Spring In Her Heart

kneeling
she lays a single white rose
upon a stone
that has been washed clean by her tears

her voice frail and broken
as she tells him of the children
she speaks of the grandchildren with pride
reminding him it's time to re-roof the house
winter is almost here
tho' it's still spring in her heart
he's been gone ten years
yet her love spans time and life and death

her fingers trace the carving in the stone
lovingly
she knows every contour
every shape

a solitary tear slips down her face
which she hastily wipes away
saying, "Oh that was nothing"

old bones achily bring her to her feet
as she touches the cold stone so gently
whispering "I love you"
as she walks away

Beautiful and profound, great use of words and so clear and explicit. This certainly touched me and caused me to rejoice at the same time.

Touching and well written. It well describes several people in my sphere.

I thought this poem was very moving and was an exquisite example of how true love never dies.

This is how I would picture true love.I envision myself doing the same should my love one go ahead of me.So beautiful. It makes me think of having this inscribed on my own grave.(no, really..)
