About the Poem

I don't want my loved ones grieving for me so I'm telling them what I'll be doing after I'm gone

While Waiting For Thee

Don't weep at my grave
For I am not there,
I've a date with a butterfly
To dance on the air.
If I'm missed, find a flower,
I'll be there too,
Sniffing it's fragrance
Right next to you.

Don't be sad
When you remember me,
For I'm singing in the sunshine,
Wild and free,
Flirting with the lighting,
Playing tag with the wind,
Chasing the thunder
Time and again,
Soaring with the eagle,
Swimming in the sea,
Enjoying all of nature
While I'm waiting for thee.

My mother will be going into hospice care soon. I was greatly touched by this poem as it will help me to always know that while she is physically not with me her spirit will be everywhere. This poet has captured the essence of the loss of loved ones in a very reassuring way.

I really enjoyed this poem! My great uncle just passed away about 3 weeks ago and this poem touched me greatly, especially for his widow to whom he was married for 55 years. Poetry is such a wonderful medium of expression to me and this poem has a wonderful message!

My family lost a friend, a 16 year old girl, who died in an auto accident 3 days ago. I know she shares your feelings. Thank you for a beautiful message.
