About the Poem

When someone we love dies, if we close our eyes, we can still see them in our every day walk of life. If you have lost someone you love, look for them today... you may be surprised to find that they are not really gone at all.

Christmas From The Heart

I heard your voice in the wind today
and I turned to see your face;
The warmth of the wind caressed me
as I stood silently in place.

I felt your touch in the sun today
as its warmth filled the sky;
I closed my eyes for your embrace
and my spirit soared high.

I saw your eyes in the window pane
as I watched the falling rain;
It seemed as each raindrop fell
it quietly said your name.

I held you close in my heart today
it made me feel complete;
You may have died...but you are not gone
you will always be a part of me.

As long as the sun shines...
the wind blows...
the rain falls...
You will live on inside of me forever
for that is all my heart knows.

I lost both my Brother and then lost my Mother 17 days later this past February. This has been a very hard time for my father and I, and we have had a difficult time dealing with all the pain. Now, with it being Christmas, it had become even harder. This poem is fabulous and very much true! No matter what you do, say, look at, think about, etc. your memories of your lost one(s) is always there! This poem is very special and will also be placed at the cemetary with my Mother & Brother to let them know that they have not been forgotten! Thanks for your talent - please share more!

This poem truly reflects how I feel about my dad-by-choice, but my friend-by-blood, who passed on to the better life on Christmas Day of 1992. It was VERY DIFFICULT at first, but at this point I have been concentrating on the very special memories I have of my special Dad. To me, he was the velvet teddy bear of dads. You couldn't help but feel BETTER after hugging his velvety arms and kissing his velvety cheeks. He made you feel like you were a worthwhile person in this world. My birth dad didn't do that. Your poem reflects a LOT about my paternal grandmother, too. I will think of that now when I look at her picture when I'm seated at my computer. It's on my wall to the right of my 1st grade picture that truly resembles her because of her bubbly smile she had.

I lost my father 6 months ago. I am touched by this poem as I also find comfort in nature when I miss my father. When I feel the wind on my skin, I pretend that he is hugging me. Thank you and God bless.

I was very touched by this poem as it made me think of both of my parents.. they are gone now but their memories are still alive within my heart and I can still feel their closeness when I think of them. this poem made me think about them even more.. I appreciate those who have the talent to write poetry and to be able to touch another's feelings just by writing some of these poems is a wonderful gift.

I lost my grandmother 8 years ago but i always think about her. I wish that she was alive but i've learned to adjust. Poetry is a great way to do so and I really enjoyed yours

I love it. There can always be beauty deep inside at the time of loss, and we can't deny our memories of that person. Thank You!! I am to read a poem, which I do write a times, for my aunt's funeral, but didn't want to make it a sadder occasion than it has to be.
