I like this poem because even tho i'm female, and reasonably young, I can still relate to it. I have jus recently split up from a bf who refused to talk, and listen. He wouldn't discuss things with me and wouldn't engage in meaningful conversation. This poem highlights both sides of the 'argument'. And has made me feel I can see it from his side. I think it's a brilliant poem.

I agree with you. Love is different for each persona and each relationship. I have met some people that are not cold and unable to feel, they just do not know how. I just look deep into thier eyes and watch, and remember that all humans do it, some just do not know how to express it!

It has been quite some time, since I have heard such a testimony that touched me in a way such as this. I once was able to express my emotions in a way that simply my words would make others sob, and wonder in amazement how I could do so. I, myself have become a robot because not only am I unable now to express myself through poetry and sonnets, as before, I cannot in emotionally in relationships as well. I too, lost a love for that reason and I can relate to your poem like you were speaking my life. It must have been painful, but it is beautiful! It lingers!

The feelings expressed by the husband here is so like men in general. We have that cold, calculating logic (cold steel) that enables to function as men but so often, fails us when we enter into personal relationships. We allow our logic etc. , to define our feelings. The poem seems to make me address that cold fact and doing so, I have to, at least, try to change my nature. This poem speaks to me and I like it!

Sadly, I came across your poem far too late. My cardboard cut out of a man has left and now I know his love was great. Alas - it truly expresses the pain the robot feels at not being able to express himself, and the pain that I (the wife of the robot)feel, knowing that he has a rich soul that cannot express itself. This took my breath away by the end of the poem. I've fallen in love with a certain "robot" before, and it's heart-wrenching. I know he loves me, but he can't bring himself to show it. It's like he's been "programmed" to go through life not being able to express his emotions. I can relate to you and this poem so much. Thank you.
