About the Poem

An online acquaintance of mine recently passed away. We were AOL chatroom hosts in a forum called the HUB, in a room called Urban Legends. One of the chats we hosted was a poetry chat called Urban Legends'Coffee House. It was a two hr block of guests' original poetry. When he passed away we had a special Coffee House in his honor, and this is the poem I composed in honor of Odain.

Soaring Home

The poet stands in a stream of fluid moonlight
Looking skyward, looking home

The poet's stance is purposeful
Gleaning the meaning of the moon beams

He sees the stars dancing their ageless dance
He longs to dance among them

He feels the comet's breeze
Brush past his face, and dreams of its wild ride

The Loving Being of The Universe hears his dreams
And reaches out to take him home

The poet stands among celestial celebrations
And whispers to us . . .

I am home.

Thank you so much for this beautiful tribute. We should all be so honored to have such dear friends.

gads, I am sobbing, somewhat bewildered, and deeply affected;the power of a simple word or phrase to touch, trigger instantly and intensely.I think I shall keep these words close, in them I find a strange and wonderful comfort. A gratitude in the sharing.
